UV lighting is beneficial for killing bacteria and growth adhering to the inside of your ductwork or on your coils. The most standard type of lighting system is installed near the evaporator coil and is consistently shining to block buildup of growth or bacteria on or around the coil. The other type is installed in the return air duct and designed to kill microbes in the air.

Most high-quality systems are designed to be shielded against the generation of ozone or have filtration systems that scatter and filter out the chemical.

Duct cleaning is important to keep your home air quality clean and is usually done with a Rotobrush. It reduces the dust, pet dander, bacteria, mildew, pollen, and growth that would otherwise be blown throughout your house. ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) systems are devices that remove stagnant air from within the home and supplies fresh air from outside while keeping your home cool. The device recovers some of the energy used which decreases utility bills. It is ideal for those with allergies or asthma as it removes the air impurities from inside.

An ERV system does not have to work as hard to keep the temperature steady in your home. One can typically last up to 20 years.
